In my last article I talked about business being the beginning for creating change in the world and investing in our cities. Funding for these entrepreneurs is coming from a new source called “Crowd Funding.” Over the Internet this type of funding enables every day people to invest in projects and businesses they believe in.
My favorite story is by the founders of Who Gives a Crap Toilet paper. These product design specialists have created a recycled toilet paper and they have chosen to give 50 % of their profits to Water Aid to promote sanitation projects across the world. Their product is something we all use every day and they are committed to creating a new buying experience of this everyday used product through their story. They are seeking funding for their warehouse and have a very unique way of raising money for their efforts. The written word cannot do their story justice. Seeing is the only way to get the true sense of what is happening here.
One good thing about solving the world’s problems; there are many problems to solve and entrepreneurs are bound to find a challange that allows them the creative ingenuity to make a difference. I encourage the business community to keep on inventing and solving the issues that move them. Pun is definitely intended with this comment!
